What is a Bond?

What is a Bond?

A bond is like a giant I.O.U. note. When a country (like Italy or the USA) wants to build a school or a bridge, they borrow money from you. They give you a bond ticket, promising to pay you back later and give you small cash rewards (called coupons) every year.

Bonds are usually safer than stocks, but they grow your money more slowly.
